Posted in spoken word poetry on Aug 31st, 2009 Comments
It is August and the final Slam has wrapped come and gone and was recorded and saved for later except for those bits that came before the creative influx. So here you are to hear somethings ...
RAW Salvage was requested to keep The Calgary Slam Team up it's sleeve until after the nationals in Victoria. Well so we have and so we will, however come November what happens come what may we will post what happened at the Auburn on the 27th day and you will understand the surprises.
Thank you to the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival for sponsoring the monthly Slams, Thank you to all the Poets that participate but most special are the thanks to you people who come down load and listen to the Raw Salvage of all of our poets. It is wonderful that the spoken word can be heard in all parts of the world.
In closing I am posting a spoken word piece written by Dale A Herrington
remember there is so much so please down load /listen and enjoy:
nobody talks like this anymore,
softly cadenced honey dripping from trees
maybe before it was all lies of what was
or what we could’ve chosen to be
maybe it was different than, what we
could see
maybe it was different than, how it
should be
maybe….
and now there is you,
reading or hearing these words
you should know more than i, because of the times
maybe…..
but …
you’re
still looking over your shoulders avoiding
detection
you’re
still whispering treasons, for the reasons to find
the love of our natures, the meanings of lives
maybe
you’re
still watching the circus, still doing your time
searching for that something we all hope to find
maybe
but
even if it is so, that nobody speaks like this anymore
the ideals are fluid only fixed in there time, to reach
across eons to offer alternatives to your new and our old
maybe
though
there will always be missives from my words
to yours, but hear the words ringing, soundly, building the world
maybe
Dale A. Herrington
